Brown & Weinraub, PLLC Adds Denis Hughes as Senior Advisor
Firm Continues to Expand Financial Services and Business Development Practice with Top New York Leader
Brown & Weinraub, PLLC announced today that Denis Hughes has agreed to serve as a Senior Advisor to the firm. Mr. Hughes, formerly Chairman of the New York Federal Reserve Bank and the President of the New York State AFL-CIO, has been at the forefront of state policy for decades. Mr. Hughes recently served on Governor Andrew Cuomo's Spending and Government Efficiency (SAGE) Commission to modernize and right-size state government, improve performance, increase accountability and save taxpayers' money.
From 1999 until November, 2012, Mr. Hughes served as President of the 2.5 million member New York State AFL-CIO and a union member since 1968. Major achievements under his tenure include reforming the state's workers' compensation system, enacting a minimum wage for farm workers, and coordination of labor's efforts to pass the James Zadroga 9/11 Health Care and Compensation Act. Mr. Hughes is a former Commissioner of the New York State Insurance Fund, and served on the New York State Commission on State Asset Maximization.
